It has now been 36 days since Miley Cyrus shocked the world with her performance on the MTV Video Music Awards. Looking back on her performance, Cyrus has said that she intended to “make history” with her live routine. She also said that she can now show the world that she is “one bad b*tch.” It seems that Miley has accomplished both of these goals.
Considering that it has been well over a month since the VMA number and the 20 year-old singer is still the hottest thing on the internet in terms of trending, she did more than just succeed. The former Hannah Montana has insured that between her MTV controversy and her nude appearance in the music video for Wrecking Ball she’s what everyone is talking about.
Miley reveals her agenda in the MTV documentary, Miley: The Movement, that will be airing on October 2. The program shows just how focussed she is on reshaping her career after her time as the Disney princess Hannah Montana ended. She also shows admirable shrewdness and is progressing full speed on killing off her goody-two-shoes image.
The Wrecking Ball singer talks about her VMA performance and says that it was a strategic move that was also a “hot mess.” She confesses that her routine was set up to expand the “boundaries” as well as make history.
She went on to explain that she had done nothing that had not been done before. She speaks about Britney Spears pushing the boundaries with her infamous kiss with Madonna on the MTV VMA ten years ago. Cyrus wanted the show to be memorable and she has succeeded.
In the documentary Miley Cyrus says that now she can finally be “the bad bitch” that she really is.
Like Spears did before her, Miley is making that transition from child performer to adult at this stage in her career. She started with “punking up” her image. Short hair, tattoos, and goth type clothing. Getting rid of her Hannah Montana locks seemed to be the first step in her move to leave all things Disney behind her.
Miley’s posing topless, appearing naked except for a wrecking ball and tennis shoes in her last video, and focussing on her sexuality are all moves made with one goal in mind. She is killing Hannah Montana and forging her way as an adult entertainer.
She does say, however, that her performance on the Video Music Awards was not all about sex. As she puts it, if she wanted to do a “raunchy sex show,” she would not have come out dressed as a teddy bear. Although, she did ditch her “teddy outfit” very quickly for her flesh colored two piece outfit. Which is actually a good thing. A teddy wearing singer playing clutching her crotch with a giant foam finger would have been very disturbing.
Her latest album, which is due to be released on October 8 this year, has not gotten rave reviews thus far. We Can’t Stop and Wrecking Ball have done very well with her fans, but the rest of the tracks on the album have been described as “uneven” and mediocre. The album has been given two out of four stars and iTunes is streaming it already, opting not to wait for October 8.
Miley Cyrus explains that she is very comfortable with her sexuality and that she is relieved that she can “be herself” instead of acting like something she isn’t. Hannah Montana fans take note, this former Disney princess says that she’s happy to “be the bad bitch” she is and that is one thing that will not be changing.
