California Police Arrest Wrong-Way Driver for Killing 6 in Freeway Crash

California Police have announced the arrest of a female driver in connection with driving the wrong way on a Pomona Freeway and causing an accident which resulted in six people being killed. The female wrong-way driver was placed under arrested after being suspected of driving while under the influence and causing the fatal accident. The 21-year-old will also reportedly be charged with felony manslaughter for her role in the fatal Southern California accident.

According to Rodrigo Jimenez, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 4:40 a.m. on the westbound side of the Pomona Freeway in Diamond Bar. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Lt. Fred Coral stated that the unnamed female driver who is thought to have caused the accident is in critical condition in a Los Angeles County hospital. She is currently suffering from a broken femur along with a ruptured bladder.

Although there has been no official declaration, officials believe that due to items found at the scene, alcohol may have played a factor in the fatal California crash.

Spokesman Jimenez stated that the female driver was headed westbound on Pomona Freeway in a red colored Chevy Camaro when her vehicle struck a Ford Explorer. From that point on, what exactly transpired has yet to be sorted out, however, the series of events after the initial impact eventually led to six dead individuals with at least two of the deceased having been ejected from their vehicles. The accident resulted in both sides of Pomona Freeway being shutdown for hours Sunday as Southern California investigators combed through the wreckage.

The crash was described as “horrific” by Jimenez, who himself was reported to be present at the scene of the accident. Southern California Police have announced that while she is severely injured, the young female wrong-way driver thought to have caused the accident which killed six individuals is under arrest for  driving under the influence and felony manslaughter.
