Denver Broncos Punch Ticket to Super Bowl

Denver Broncos are the first team to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl, scheduled to be held in a couple of weeks. Denver hit the gas pedal and never let up on the New England patriots. Denver ran out to a 20-3 lead, stifling Tom Brady’s Patriots until the fourth quarter of the game. The Broncos now await the winner of the divisional match up between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. The game will be held at Met Life Stadium located in New Jersey.
Peyton Manning finally evened the score with Tom Brady in the playoffs. Their record against one another in the playoffs is now even at two and two. Peyton Manning threw 43 attempts and completed 32 passes for 40o yards and two touchdowns. His counterpart, Brady, threw for 277 yards and only one touchdown. Manning found his favorite target in Demaryius Thomas for 134 yards and one touchdown.
Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have been known to get into some pretty heavy offensive battles, but Denver’s defense slowed Tom Brady to the tune of three points until the start of the fourth quarter. Broncos pressured, hurried, and sacked Brady into submission. New England’s bread and butter this post season was the strong run game, but the run game was never able to find any rhythm in this game. Their running backs totaled a lackluster 16 carries for 64 yards. Legarrette Blount alone carried their offense to victory last weekend rushing to a tune of a 160 yards and four touchdowns. Today, that did not happen. The Broncos never allowed the big bruising back to get going, holding him to five carries for six meager yards.
During the regular season, the Denver Broncos were never known for their defense. They ranked around mid pack in the league and ranking 27 in total pass defense. A pass-happy offense with a decent complimentary run game is all Denver needed to stay ahead of most opponents. Mostly they relied on Manning to get the job done and to out-score the opposition as much as possible. It was a plan which seemed to work practically all year.
It will be the first time in 15 years that the Denver Broncos have made the Super Bowl. John Elway will lead his first team into the big game as an Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Broncos, The last time they won a Super Bowl, John Elway led the Broncos as the team’s franchise quarterback. John Fox will be making his second Super Bowl appearance as a head coach, his first was with the Carolina Panthers.
It has been quite a year for the Denver Broncos. Their best defensive player was suspended for the first part of the year, John Fox had to have open heart surgery about mid way through the season, and they were plagued by injuries all season long.  The team just stuck together and continued their success story for the year. The last time the Broncos won a playoff game was with none other than Tim Tebow under center, but now the Denver Broncos hope to add another in two weeks now that they have punched their ticket into the Super Bowl with one of the best in the game, Peyton Manning.
