Samsung Galaxy Finally Discovers iPhone’s Soft Spot

Samsung Galaxy began its ‘battle’ with iPhone years ago. Although they both reached the fifth generation of phones and iPhone is making waves with its high-end products, Samsung seems to have finally found its rival’s soft spot. After iPhone 5S and C’s release sent Samsung Galaxy S4 into a shadow cone, the Korean multinational decided to set things straight and offer a coup de theatre with its new S5, aiming at what appears to be its long-time rival’s soft spot.
There are plenty of questions that remain unanswered with regard to Samsung Galaxy S5′s release day, specs and features but word has it that the revamped smart phone will be released after the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona ,which takes place in February. Internet tipster @evleaks already offered the tech savvy a sneak peek into what appears to be Samsung Galaxy S5′s home screen. As it appears, the Korean giant gambles on custom-made cards that allow the user to never miss a meeting, appointment, message or flight. The traditional Android screen is still there, but the interface has clearly taken off from any resemblance with iPhone, moving in the direction of Microsoft’s Windows Phone and Google Now cards.
Although Apple is rushing the release of its iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy seems to be moving at a slow pace because its smartphone release comes with something that Consumer Electronics Show 2014 defined as a gold mine: wearable technology.
“When we release our S5 device, you can also expect a Gear successor with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also improve,” Lee Young Hee, Samsung mobile business’ executive vice president said.
The new debut will lure buyers thanks to added features and a moulded look that could transform Samsung smartwatch into a must. Although Apple’s iWatch is not just a possibility, but a reality with an unknown release date, the Korean maker could enjoy its supremacy thanks to the new and improved smartwatch, which compliments the upcoming S5. Lee also vaguely announced the release of yet another wearable device this year, but didn’t disclose any details.
The press speculates that Samsung could be aiming at a pair of smart sunglasses after the company registered a design in South Korea last year. It seems that the sunglasses will not only retrieve information from Samsung Galaxy, but it will also enable the user to take calls. In this regard, Apple and its high-end iPhone have been left behind as far as the release day of any wearable gadget is concerned, thus uncovering its soft spot and allowing Samsung to take control of the mobile market.
Galaxy S5 May Skip the Fingerprint Reader
Samsung did not shy away from letting the world know that its new Galaxy S5 will have almost nothing in common with S4, but Lee also unveiled that the company is testing the iris recognition technology which, if put into practice could dethrone iPhone.
“Many people are fanatical about iris recognition technology,” Lee said during the Consumer Electronics Show. “We are studying the possibility but can’t really say whether we will have it on the S5.”
No matter if Samsung Galaxy S5 features iris recognition technology or not, analysts rush into stating that the competition between Galaxy and iPhone will become fierce, but the odds may be in Galaxy’s favor this time. According to Lee, Samsung mobile business’ executive vice president, the Korean maker has changed its path.
“We are targeting consumers who want more professional use and tend to be willing  to pay more for handsets,” Lee said.
Although plenty of voices mention that Samsung Galaxy S5 will be released in February, the Korean company is not rushing into releasing its smartphone. Lee’s confidence points our not only that Samsung believes both smartwatch and smartphone will be successful, but also that there is no information which mentions iPhone 6 could be released at the same time with iWatch.
