Opening day at the 2013 British Open was somewhat as expected. There was wind, and the fairways and greens were dry and blazingly fast. Tiger Woods is in the hunt, after shooting a two-under-par 69.
He played well, adjusting for the wind, and his putting was good overall. He left his driver in the bag, and hit most of the fairways, or was just in the first cut of rough.
The leader is Zach Johnson who shot a 66, and is five-under-par.
54 holes to go, and anything can happen, but Tiger appeared composed and in control. He is in the hunt to win the British Open and his 15th major tournament.
