Bryan Cranston for Lex Luthor in Man of Steel Sequel

Don’t pack your razor away just yet, because it looks like we could be in for a super-treat.  Bryan Cranston, 57, star of hit US drama series, Breaking Bad, is reportedly up for the role of Lex Luthor in the 2015 Man of Steel sequel.  This news, that has gone viral, is still to be confirmed by Warner Brothers, but is spreading like wildfire.
The actor, much loved for his part as Malcolm’s dad in Malcolm in the Middle, but practically worshipped as Walter White in the Breaking Bad (BrBa) series, has apparently signed a 6-film deal to play Lex Luthor, which should begin filming after Series 6 of BrBa (sadly) comes to an end, next month, according to reports.
The film, claimed to be directed again by Zack Snyder, will feature Ben Affleck as Batman, pitted against Welsh beefcake Henry Cavill’s Superman, in a superhero show down, with Bryan Cranston’s Luthor as Superman’s arch-rival.
Ben Affleck was given a right bat-tering by thousands of resentful Batman fans, via a petition sent out to Warner Brothers, with Affleck deemed by the creator of the petition, “inappropriate for the role.”  Suggestions on Twitter were even offered for a better Batman than Affleck, with someone helpfully suggesting their cat, while another suggested Otto from the Airplane! Movie.   A further decidedly anti-Affleck individual commented, “Ben Affleck is a metro male with the strength of a wet noodle.”  Poor Ben.
But it would be unthinkable to imagine how anybody who loves their villains would have a “BrBa” word to say about Bryan Cranston filling the shoes of his predecessors, Gene Hackman, John Shea, Michael Rosenbaum or Kevin Spacey, although one or two of them cut a mean villain.  Personally, I think he will be deliciously evil and will certainly deliver, as expected.  People will naturally have their own ideas about Cranston’s capabilities, and that’s fine too.
