Dirty Hits Already Targeting South Carolina’s Clowney

Jadeveon Clowney is one of the best players in college football, because of that teams may already looking to take him out with dirty hits.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are riding high heading into the 2013 NCAA football season, ranked number 6 in the land. Boasting one of the best players in the nation in defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, hopes are high that this is going to be a big season for the SEC school.

Their season officially is underway after an impressive 27-10 victory over the UNC Tarheels on Thursday night. 1-0 is as good of a start as you can hope for, however a potential warning sign emerged.

Opposing players are already attempting to neutralize Jadeveon Clowney with dirty hits.

As you can see the ball is clearly out of the quarterbacks hand before Kiaro Holts dives for Clowney’s knees. A scary play considering Clowney had already turned around to watch the action downfield. A clear cheap shot. Kind of like Warren Sapp against Chad Clifton in 2002.

Clowney had no sacks in the game, and just three tackles, however was not neutralized enough to prevent Holts taking a diving cheap shot in an apparent attempt to knock him out of the game. Clowney is exciting, and has a promising career, it would be a shame if he if sidelined by a dirty play such as this one.
